With what seems like an age where I have totally missed this years heather season, I put a day off from work to good use and finally managed to get out with my camera. I originally had the idea to head to Chrome Hill for sunrise. Considering the day before was blissfully warm which turned bitterly cold during the night, when I woke the next morning, I could see the mist was already starting to appear over Curbar Edge. With the idea that an inversion was perhaps starting to form, Mam Tor or Winnats Pass was now my intended location.
A few of the usual Mam Tor car parking spaces were taken up when I arrived, so I decided on Winnats instead. As soon as I crossed the last stile onto the gorge itself I was elated, the Hope valley was shrouded in mist and colour was beginning to form in the sky.
This is my first photograph from quite a productive morning, this was taken literally minutes before the sun poked its head over the horizon.
