Even though Stanage Edge is classed as the Peak Districts’ ‘Queen of the Gritstone Edges’, it is one location that I don’t visit often enough and I really should do, there are plenty of compositions to capture. In fact I have never seen two Stanage Edge photographs the same.

When looking out of the kitchen window on this particular June evening and seeing some good cloud cover and formation, I just had to get out to make the most of it. This image was taken 15 minutes after sunset when the afterglow lit the clouds up.

This image was painful to capture though. There I am stood knee deep in the ferns and the midges were making an easy ready meal of me. In fact my eyes were watering at one point, they were absolutely savage.
